Masontown
Privacy
Masontown is a puzzle game with no accounts, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. Your games are stored on your own device. This page describes everything the game collects, which is very little, and how to turn the optional part off.

What stays on your device
The game you are playing, any games you have saved and named, your top scores, and your analytics choice are all kept in your browser’s local storage on the device you play on. None of it is sent anywhere, and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser data for this site erases it permanently, including saved games.
Names you give saved games are free text you wrote. They stay on the device and are never transmitted, in analytics or anywhere else.
Optional gameplay analytics
With your permission, Masontown counts a small set of events so we can tell whether a rule change made the game better or worse. You are asked once, and asked again if this list ever changes — an answer you gave to an older version of this page does not carry over. You can change the answer at any time in About → Privacy inside the game, and declining changes nothing about how the game plays.
These are the only events, and the complete contents of each:
- What happened in a game — that a game started, ended, was saved, was resumed, that a move was undone, that challenge mode was switched, that a new shape was reached for the first time, or that a result was shared. Sharing records that you shared, never who you shared with or what you sent.
- That you opened one of two links — the feedback form, or this policy. Not what you read, and not what you wrote.
- How the game was going — sent with every event above, including the two links: the score, the move count, the number of star bursts, the highest shape reached, and whether the game was in Chill or Challenge mode.
- Which surface — whether the game was running in a browser tab, as an installed web app, or in the mobile app.
- Which game — the word “masontown”. Masontown shares one analytics project with another game by the same author, and this is what keeps the two sets of counts apart. It is the same for every player and says nothing about you.
- A random identifier — created on your device the first time you allow analytics, so that ten games finished by one player can be told apart from ten players finishing one game. It is not derived from your device, your browser, or anything about you, it is not shared with any other site or app, and declining analytics deletes it.
Events are processed by PostHog, which acts as our processor. We disable their location lookup and send a blank IP address, so neither we nor they record where you are. We do not create person profiles. Automatic click tracking and session recording are switched off. Nothing is used for advertising, and nothing is combined with data from other companies to follow you across apps or websites.
Not collected, at any time: your name, your email address, your location, your contacts, your device identifiers, the names of your saved games, or any other free text.
Feedback
The Feedback link opens a Google Form in a new tab. It is separate from analytics and asks for no personal details, though you are free to include whatever you want to tell us — including an email address, if you would like a reply. Google’s privacy terms govern what happens on that page.
Hosting
The game is served by Cloudflare, which keeps short-lived request logs containing IP addresses for security and reliability, as any web host does. Everything the page loads — typefaces included — is served from this same domain, so opening the game contacts no other company. No cookies are set by the game itself.
Children
Masontown is suitable for all ages. It asks for no personal information from anyone, and the optional analytics described above are the only data collection of any kind.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top will change and you will be asked for your analytics choice again. Questions go to privacy@playmasontown.com.
